A 39-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly attempting to use counterfeit cash in shops across Skegness.
Officers from Lincolnshire Police say they received multiple reports of a man attempting to use suspected counterfeit £20 notes at various businesses along Lumley Road and Grand Parade between January and February this year.
Following enquiries, a 39-year-old man was arrested on Friday 27 February on suspicion of knowingly using a counterfeit note. He was also arrested for breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO). He has since been released on bail while investigations continue.
During a search, officers discovered the man to be in possession of additional suspected fake £20 notes. These have been seized and sent to the National Crime Agency (NCA) for further examination.
As part of the investigation, a property on Grosvenor Road was also searched. Police say a number of items believed to have been used to make counterfeit notes appear genuine were found. A 56-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possessing equipment intended for use in the production of counterfeit currency. He has also been released on bail.
Lincolnshire Police confirmed that enquiries remain ongoing.
